Thanks to the time change here in the US, it was rather easy to get out of bed at 3am. Did some work, and the SquidgeWorld server seems to be responding. It’s chugging through the last step (albeit one that takes at least an hour), but it seems stable. So by the time you read this, SquidgeWorld Archive will be back up! Albeit on a slower processor, but we maxxed out on the RAM so here’s hoping that things process at least as well as they did on our last server. So don’t expect AO3-like performance! I know the crush after 24 hours of downtime will be large, but give us some grace.
I also want people to know: Yes, we’re still utilizing the invitation queue. BUT, if you are a community mod and you need a collection or to run a fest or such, please contact me (preferably here, but any of our social media should suffice) so that I can bump you to the front of the line.
We’re using your donations to buy a new, more powerful server to host SquidgeWorld, and we’ll be taking time at the end of the year to upgrade everything to the latest & greatest code and bug fixes. That will be another multi-day project. But that’s for later.
And finally, I want to thank everyone for their kind words. This has truly been a humbling experience, and your kindness has helped me deal with the stress this has caused.
For now, enjoy!
Than you so much for all your work and graciousness. You are fantastic!
Thank you for everything. Great communication included as well as 3am work!
You’re back! Welcome back and thanks for all your hard work!

Thank you 💕
You’re amazing! Thank you so much! Please get some sleep!!!!!!
We appreciate the work and communication! Y’all are dealing with a wild uptick in demand.
Is there any possibility of using the new server alongside the old one with something like a tiny load balancer (either a cloud instance or raspberry pi) to spread the demand out?
3am is just crazy! 😱 Thank you so much for all your hard work, you’re amazing, it’s greatly appreciated! ❤️
Please, please get some sleep and good food as soon as you can, and relax! 🫂
As an Ao3 refugee that has been slowly reposting my works here, thank you so much for your hard work and updates.
Beyond grateful for all the work you’ve done, are doing, and will do to keep things running and to give us a platform to share ❤️ Don’t overdo it today after the early morning and have a lovely day!
